Information & Policies

GENERAL INFORMATION AND POLICIES

SAFETY RULES

  • Headphones, earbuds, speakers, and other audio devices are highly discouraged. If you must wear headphones or the like, only ONE EAR ONLY.  For your safety and the safety of others we ask that you be mindful of your volume and surroundings and ask that you keep the volume low enough that you can hear others around you. The ability to communicate with each other and other people on the trails is a safety imperative.
  • No late starts. Another safety rule. We have sweeps on every course to ensure everyone gets off the course safely. If you are behind the sweep, we won’t know if you have an emergency. Plan accordingly. Get there on time, allot time for traffic, construction, road closures, GPS mishaps, or if you happen to make a wrong turn.  It is your responsibility to be there on time.
  • No four-legged friends, strollers, or kids/pets in backpacks on the course. Shendo Cat Racing is dog/cat/kid/snake friendly,  but when hundreds of people are on the course, unexpected guests can become a safety issue. Leave the pooch in someone’s care at the staging area or leave them at home.  Bring your kids for the kids’ run and post race activities but have another adult available to supervise when you’re out there running.
  • AID STATIONS
    • Aid Stations generally have first-aid supplies, water, gels, electrolytes, sunscreen, and radio communication.  Others may be more limited.  Please check individual event pages for details.
    • All Aid Station locations are approximate.
    • Water Stations have water only.
  • Cutoff Times
    • Each event/course has its own course cutoff (maximum time allotted to complete the course). Runners may be able to complete the course voluntarily but will not receive a finish time or finisher medal (if available).  Course Marshalls will have final word if a runner is permitted to continue.
  • All courses are subject to change due to circumstances beyond the control of Event Management. Possible course changes include dates, times, and trails used.
  • Trail distances are approximate and may be longer or shorter than indicated.

GENERAL EVENT POLICIES

YOU MUST BRING PROOF OF REGISTRATION TO PICK UP YOUR BIB!

  • Acceptable Proof: Online registration confirmation, credit card statement, cashed check, or email confirmation from Shendo Cat Racing or Active.com.
  • If we cannot confirm your registration you will not receive a bib unless you reregister.  If and when you show proof of your registration and payment, your duplicate payment will be refunded.
  • NO EXCEPTIONS.

RACE CONDUCT

  • Shendo Cat Racing will not tolerate inappropriate behavior toward any volunteers, staff, athletes, or spectators. Failure to follow this simple guideline will result in disqualification from the event. Multiple infractions may result in being banned from future Shendo Cat Racing events. Seriously. Don’t forget, we’re all out here for some FUN, so let’s have some!

DISCLAIMER

We are human (and maybe part cat).

REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS POLICY

  • There are NO REFUNDS. NO DEFERRALS. NO EXCEPTIONS. Shendo Cat Racing cannot accept liability for everyone’s risk of disaster/life events/injury/sickness/work schedules/vehicle issues/children/pets/general lack of planning etc.
  • PURCHASE THE INSURANCE AVAILABLE DURING REGISTRATION
  • IF and ONLY IF an event is sold out, you may transfer your registration to another participant so long as it is at least 2 WEEKS before the event.  Current registration fees will apply + an additional $25 administrative fee.

NATURAL DISASTER INFORMATION AND POLICIES

WHAT HAPPENS IF AN ACT OF GOD/TERRORISM/COMMUNITY DISASTER OCCURS?

  1. In the event any of the above occur, we make decisions based on safety first.
  2. Shendo Cat Racing will make all decisions in conjunction with venue/land owners with consideration of park impact and participant safety.
  3. Race management may alter race courses and race dates if necessary.
  4. If a race must be postponed, participants will be transferred to the future event at no charge.
  5. SHENDO CAT RACING cannot accept the risk of a disaster for everyone. Each athlete needs to accept the risk of their entry fee. There will be NO REFUNDS.  BUY THE INSURANCE (are you tired of this yet?).

WHY?

We do not save money if the race is postponed or you choose not to run. We have paid for every supply and service needed for that race, regardless of the outcome. These include paying for permits, rangers, staff, offices, and administration costs annually. It’s not ideal and nobody likes wasting money, but unfortunately, we cannot predict what will happen on race day.

Of course, PURCHASE THE INSURANCE AVAILABLE DURING REGISTRATION and this won’t be an issue.
