Jake Hernandez
A lifelong runner and Arizona native, Jake is no stranger to the trails around the Valley and beyond. You can often find him running the trails of Phoenix’s South Mountain and along the canals of Tempe, although sometimes he hops on two wheels, gravel riding anywhere and everywhere he can, even mountain bike trails.
Jake started with Shendo Cat Racing as a volunteer in 2010, and his role has evolved ever since. You can sometimes find him at aid stations, registration tables, working a camera, and even running in the races!
Jake has raced everything from 5Ks to Marathons, making more than
one appearance at the Boston Marathon. You’ll often find him rocking a sweet cowboy hat at the races, and yes, that ridiculous mustache is real.

Jake is your go-to guy if you need a little help or direction at a Shendo Cat and XTERRA Arizona Trail Run Event. He has years of experience with racing, running, and all kinds of outdoor athletic events. If you want to know more, ask him sometime.
