Why come run the Fat Turkey Trail Run? Because you’ve eaten too much, because it’s in the red rocks of Papago Park, because it’s on the trails, because more than a 10k is too far when you’re this full, and because RUNNING IS FUN! Get ready, because the Fat Turkey Trail Run is not your everyday turkey trot.
Come race the Turkey (or at least someone dressed like one) on the trails of Papago Park. This fun and enjoyable trail turkey trot is great for the whole family. Join family and friends for a no-pressure fun trail run in the centrally-located trails of the Papago Buttes. Can you think of a more fun way to bond after too much food and football-watching? The 5k is great for beginners or if you’re just looking for a fun outing. The 10k provides a little more of a challenge and a little bit more scenery.
Course Overview
Beginning at North Linear Park (just east of the 202 and west of the Tempe Town Lake Marina), both courses head west on the canal for 1/2 mile before heading into the single track for either a rockin’ or rollin’ 5k/10k. Both courses include aid stations with water/electrolytes/gels. If you love running the Papago Buttes and chasing turkeys, our Fat Turkey Trail Run may be just the thing for you!

Post Race Benefits
10k start time is 8:00am and 5k start time is 8:15am. Both courses begin at Linear Park (just west of the Tempe Town Lake Marina), head west on the canal for 1/2 mile before heading into the single track for either a rockin’ or rollin’ 5k/10k. 10k includes two aid stations with water/Gatorade/gels. The 5k includes one Aid Station with water/Gatorade/gels. If you love running the Papago Buttes and chasing turkeys, our Fat Turkey Trail Run may be just the thing for you!
